SN 2 is a potent activator of TRPML3 ion channel with an EC50 of 1.8 μM^[1]. Beyond its role in ion channel modulation, SN 2 is also identified as an effective inhibitor of both Dengue virus 2 (DENV2) and Zika virus (ZIKV), marking it as a compound of interest for antiviral research^[2].

体外研究

In experiments, SN-2 showcases a synergistic effect, amplifying the combined response to up to ten times compared to the individual responses of TRPML3 activation, with observed average current densities reaching up to 3 nA/pF at -80 mV. The introduction of a dominant negative TRPML3(D458K) variant significantly abrogates SN-2-induced activity in epidermal melanocytes. This suggests that SN-2 targets a channel unresponsive in the presence of TRPML3(D458K), hinting at possible heteromerization between TRPML3(D458K) and another SN-2-responsive channel^[1].
