Diniconazole is a broad-spectrum triazole fungicide working by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis via inhibition of the cytochrome P450-dependent 14α-demethylation of lanosterol.
Diniconazole is a systemic triazole fungicide. Diniconazole disturbed energy metabolism, amino acid metabolism and lipid metabolism[3]. Under the optimized assay conditions, 50% inhibition concentration (IC50) and the limit of detection (LOD, IC10) of clothianidin were 5.08 and 0.021 μg/L, and 13.14 and 0.029 μg/L for diniconazole[4]. Diniconazole induces increases in the hepatic UDP-GT (UDP-glucuronyltransferase) activity and the thyroid hormone excretion from the liver. The thyroid tumorigenesis in rats treated with diniconazole is due to the secondary overstimulant effect on the thyroid by increased serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) level[5]. In addition, the bioaccumulation of diniconazole in Tenebrio molitor was enantioselective with preferential accumulation of S-enantiomer[6].
