Pyrogallol, an active component of Emblica officinalis extracts, is a kind of polyphenol, and has many biological activities [1-3] . In vitro studies, pyrogallol could inhibit the growth of H441 (lung adenocarcinoma) and H520 (lung squamous cell carcinoma) cell lines, but it had less cytotoxicity on human bronchial epithelium cell line [1] . Besides this, it was found that pyrogallol also contributed to the apoptosis of human platelets, through decreasing the level of intracellular glutathione [2] . In vivo studies, it was observed that pyrogallol had the tumoricidal effect in xenograft nude mice model [1] . In addition, pyrogallol has the ability of inhibiting the vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) migration and ameliorating neointima hyperplasia in the carotid ligation mouse [3] .
