Mequinol 生物活性

描述

Mequinol, known as 4-Methoxyphenol, is recognized for its use in treating skin discoloration. As one of the active components derived from Mercurialis, it is mainly applied to alleviate various forms of hyperpigmentation^[1]. In addition to its depigmenting properties, Mequinol serves as an antioxidant. It has been observed to have additive or synergistic effects on carcinogenesis when used alongside other phenolic antioxidants. Mequinol is also noted for promoting the production of hERα-dependent chaperones, indicating its potential estrogenic activity^[1].^[2].^[3].

体外研究

Specifically, treatment with Mequinol (ranging from 1 to 10 μM over 48 hours) significantly boosts the protein levels of HSP27, GRP94, and GRP78/BiP in HEGO13 and V2 cells^[2].

Mequinol acts function in a hERα-dependent manner and has potential estrogenic activity^[2].
