描述

(-)-Myrtenal is an orally active terpene with antitumour activity. (-)-Myrtenal enhances GLUT2 in skeletal muscle and liver of diabetic rats via Akt, thereby ameliorating hyperglycaemic symptoms^[1]^[2].Acting at concentrations of 0.1-5 mM for 24 h, (-)-Myrtenal has a strong cytotoxic effect on HT29 cells and CCD 841 CoTr cells with an IC50 value of 5.3 mM^[1].

(-)-Myrtenal 动物研究

Animal study

At a dose of 80 mg/kg/day, administered orally for 28 days, (-)-Myrtenal reduced plasma glucose levels, improved plasma insulin levels, upregulated IRS2, Akt, and GLUT2 in liver, as well as led inreased protein expression of IRS2, Akt and GLUT4 in skeletal muscle.
