The uptake of radiosulfate by maternal serum and liver, as well as by the fetus and placenta, is decreased following salicylamide administration, with these effects being dose-dependent. Notably, changes in radiosulfate uptake over time in the fetus and placenta induced by salicylamide are significant, even independent of the maternal serum radiosulfate levels^[3].

Treatment with salicylamides is associated with the inhibition of bacterial growth, which is directly linked to their capacity to inhibit sulfate reduction^[1].
