EDTA 生物活性

描述 Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is a chelating agent commonly used in protein purification, both to eliminate contaminating divalent cations and to inhibit protease activity[3]. As a commonly used chelator, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) enters soil environment inevitably and has the potential to cause negative effects on soil organisms. The toxicity of EDTA increased with the increase in concentration and exposure duration. The activities of antioxidant enzymes increased at low concentration and decreased at high concentration, which indicates that oxidative stress was induced by EDTA addition[4]. Ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid (EDTA) is widely used as anticoagulant in laboratory medicine. EDTA-dependent pseudothrombocytopenia is a rare phenomenon (i.e., around 0.1% in the general population), which is mostly due to the presence of EDTA-dependent antiplatelet antibodies that react optimally between 0°C and 4°C, recognize the cytoadhesive receptors gpIIb-IIIa, stimulate the expression of activation antigens, trigger activation of tyrosine kinase, platelet agglutination and clumping in vitro, which finally lead to a spuriously decreased platelet count[5].
