描述 | Ethinyl estradiol, also called 17α-Ethynyl estradiol, is contained in many oral contraceptives. The estradiol and progestin included in oral contraceptives prevent pregnancy by inhibiting the release of luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland, which prevents ovulation, changes the lining of the uterus to inhibit implantation, and alters the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering[3]. Neonatal exposure to Ethinyl estradio (low: 20 and high: 2000 g/kg) induced an abnormal estrous cycle during postnatal day 171–190 in low-dose group and postnatal day 126–145 in high-dose group[4]. Ethinyl estradiol at the dose of 5.0 μg/rat induced a decline in immobility behavior (p < 0.001) and an increase in both swimming (p < 0.04) and climbing (p < 0.001) behaviors compared with the control group[5]. |
