描述 Anethole, existing in fennel, is a major component of foeniculum vulgare (fennel) essential oil, widely used in folk medicine [1] . In vitro studies, it was found that anethole could inhibit the proliferation, growth and migration of PC-3 cells [1] . In addition, anethole also has the ability of suppressing the adipogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) through regulating activities of specific enzymes [2] . In vivo studies, anethole contributed to the improvement of neuropathic pain in mice induced by chronic constriction injury (CCI) [3] . Besides this, anethole could also reduce inflammation and the level of cytokines and nitric oxide in rats with adjuvant-induced arthritis [1] .
