描述 (+)-Borneol, a bicyclic monoterpene found in many plants, has many biological activities. In vitro studies, (+)-borneol could improve cell cytotoxicity induced by β-amyloid in human neuroblastoma cells through decreasing reactive oxygen species generation and increasing B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) expression. Besides this, it was found that (+)-borneol could depress p-glycoprotein on brain microvascular endothelial cells via medicating the NF-κB pathway. In vivo studies, (+)-borneol could contribute to the improvement of fear and anxiety in rats possibly by modulation of the GABAergic neurotransmission. In addition, (+)-borneol has the ability of strengthening the efficacy of edaravone against DSS-induced colitis in rats.
