描述 | Stearic acid methyl ester (SAME) is a long chain dietary saturated fatty acid which exists in many animal and vegetable fats and oils. SAME can enhance MSCs (Mesenchymal stem cells) migration ability mainly through the Vav1/ROCK2 signaling pathway, which could contribute to the accelerated cartilage regeneration[1]. PAME (palmitic acid methyl ester), SAME, and Solutol HS15 provide robust neuroprotection in both paradigms of ischemia[2]. Stearic acid inhibited the colony-forming ability of 4 out of 5 rat and two human tumour continuous cell lines in vitro. Using a model of rat mammary carcinoma induced by nitroso-methyl urea (NMU) the subcutaneous injection of stearic acid at weekly intervals prevented tumour development in 5 to 10 rats. Stearic acid inhibits tumour development in rats[3]. Stearic acid significantly induced CD11c expression in monocytes through activation of the nuclear retinoid acid receptor[4]. |
