描述 | Amikacin (disulfate), a semisynthetic analog of kanamycin, is very active against most gram-negative bacteria including gentamicin- and tobramycin-resistant strains. High response rates have been reported with the use of amikacin combined with beta-lactam antibiotics in immunocompromised or granulocytopenic patients[3]. Amikacin is useful against gentamicin-resistant gram-negative bacilli and also in the treatment of infections caused by susceptible Nocardia and nontuberculous mycobacteria[4]. Moreover, amikacin 20 mg/kg once daily provided a higher probability of target attainment with lower toxicity than dosing three times daily[5]. |
