描述 | 4-Hydroxyretinoic acid (4-HRA) is a naturally occurring derivative of retinoids, exhibiting a wide range of biological effects. It is synthesized from retinol through the catalysis of cytochrome P-450 isozyme(s) and primarily metabolized by the liver. Additionally, 4-Hydroxyretinoic acid serves as a substrate for human liver microsomal UDP-glucuronosyltransferase(s) and recombinant UGT2B7. It modulates gene expression and cell differentiation by binding to the nuclear receptor RAR (Retinoic Acid Receptor) and activating RARs and RXR-alpha, leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. Moreover, 4-Hydroxyretinoic acid plays roles in immune regulation, neuroprotection, and antioxidation processes[1][2]. |
