描述 | UDP-glucuronic acid trisodium is a critical precursor for essential glycoconjugates across biological kingdoms, ranging from mammalian glycosaminoglycans and plant cell wall polysaccharides to bacterial capsule glycoglycerolipids[1]. UDP-glucuronic acid (UDP-GlcA) is also common substrate for C4-epimerases and decarboxylases releasing UDP-galacturonic acid (UDP-GalA) and UDP-pentose products, respectively[2]. UDP-glucuronic acid pyrophosphorylase from zebrafish has homology to bacterial nucleotidyltransferases and requires UTP as nucleosid diphosphate donor[3]. Moreover, depletion of the hyaluronic acid precursor UDP-glucuronic acid is sufficient to inhibit several mesenchymal-like properties including cellular invasion and colony formation in vitro, as well as tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. And depletion of UDP-glucuronic acid altered the expression of PPAR-gamma target genes and increased PPAR-gamma DNA-binding activity[4]. |
