描述 | Arginine vasopressin, a nine-amino acid peptide that is secreted from the posterior pituitary in response to high plasma osmolality and hypotension, is central in the hypothalamic-neurohypophyseal-vasopressin pathway. Vasopressin has important roles in circulatory and water homoeostasis mediated by vasopressin receptor subtypes V1a (vascular), V1b (pituitary), and V2 (vascular, renal)[3]. It is assumed that arginine vasopressin found in most mammals is the product of two identical genes which can be revealed in some species by differential mutations as seen usually in marsupials[4]. Additional duplications followed by point mutation of the vasopressin gene seem to have occurred in several marsupial families. It is of interest to find this putative duplication in both Australian and American marsupials[5]. Lysipressin is a kind of antidiuretic hormone that has been found in pigs and some marsupial families[6]. |
