生物活性
描述 Vanillyl alcohol is a phenolic alcohol and is used as a flavoring agent in foods and beverages. Vanillyl alcohol displayed a significant inhibition in the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) angiogenesis. Vanillyl alcohol was also shown to contain anti-inflammatory activity using acetic acid-induced permeability and carrageenan-induced air pouch models in mice. Anti-nociceptive activity of vanillyl alcohol was also assessed using acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice[3]. Vanillyl alcohol attenuated the elevation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, decreased in the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase proteolysis. Thus vanillyl alcohol protected dopaminergic MN9D cells against MPP+-(1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium) induced apoptosis by relieving oxidative stress and modulating the apoptotic process[4].
