描述 | Benzylacetone exhibits potent and reversible antityrosinase (mushroom) activity, with IC50s of 2.8 mM and 0.6 mM for monophenolase and diphenolase, respectively. Tyrosinase (EC 1.14.18.1) is the key enzyme of melanin synthesis and fruit-vegetable browning[1]. Benzylacetone is released by heated agarwood, when inhaled it has a potent effect on reducing the locomotor activity of mice. Benzylacetone-like compounds had sedative activities and their intensities varied depending on the functional group in the carbon chain, the substituent in the benzene ring, and their combinations[2]. Benzylacetone has appetite-enhancing and locomotor-reducing effects. The effective doses for these two outcomes overlap, and the weight gain of mice exposed to benzylacetone is caused by both appetite-enhancement and a reduction in locomotor activity[3]. |
