生物活性
描述 Xylitol, a substitute for sugar, is often used as a food additive [1-2] . In vitro studies, 25% xylitol, used in conjunction with 0.5 parts/10(6) respectively fluoride, could significantly decrease the mineral loss in freshly extracted bovine incisors, with the treatment of pure orange juice [3] . Besides this, it was also found that xylitol could inhibit the reproduction of oral bacteria, through depleting the cell or poisoning the glycolytic system [4] . In vivo studies, xylitol has the ability of changing gut microbiota but not lipid metabolism in mice, when given 40 and 194 mg/kg body weight/day in the diet [1] . In addition, it was observed that xylitol, used with red ginseng (RG), could improve the symptoms of influenza virus infection in mice [2] .
