描述 | Quercitrin, a natural product isolated and purified from the herb of Apocynum venetum L. Quercitrin (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, p.o.) can maintain the level of mitochondrial complex I in injured cells and restore its activity, which reduces the production of ROS (reactive oxygen species), protects the mitochondria from oxidative stress, and has a protective effect on the liver[3]. Intra-articular injection of quercitrin increased bone volume/tissue volume of tibial subchondral bone and cartilage thickness and reduced the Osteoarthritis Research Society International scores in OA (osteoarthritis) rats. Meanwhile, immunohistochemical results showed that quercitrin exerted anti-OA effect by delaying ECM (extracellular matrix) degradation[4]. Quer improves dysregulated lipid metabolism and reduces hepatic steatosis and inflammation by compensating for estrogen deficiency[5]. In addition, quercitrin exhibited the most antiallergic activity against antigen-induced β-hexosaminidase release and IL-4 mRNA expression, which are markers of degranulation in RBL-2H3 cells. After a 7-sensitizing period, 14 days of DNCB (2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene) treatment with or without topical pimecrolimus (1%) or quercitrin (0.5%) treatment, quercitrin was found to suppress DNCB-induced increases in serum IL-4 and IgE concentrations and transepidermal water loss[6]. |
