描述 H-Cit-OH, found in watermelon, is a precursor of l-arginine and nitric oxide (NO) in vivo [1-2] . In vivo studies, H-Cit-OH could protect skeletal muscle cell size through mediating iNOS mRNA expression in skeletal muscle cells [3] . Besides this, it was found that H-Cit-OH could protect airway epithelial cells against the decreasing of NO and the increasing of oxidative and nitrosative stress induced by increasing ADMA [4] . In vivo studies, H-Cit-OH has the ability of promoting the fetal growth in rats with Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), probably through enhancing fetal muscle protein synthesis and/or increasing NO production [2] .
