描述 Ceftibuten (Dihydrate), an oral expanded-spectrum cephalosporin, has a broad spectrum of activity against many gram-negative and selected gram-positive organisms. Ceftibuten is stable to hydrolysis by many common beta-lactamases[3]. Ceftibuten displayed high activity against Haemophilus influenzae and Branhamella catarrhalis. There was reduced activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae (MIC90 16 mg/l). The protein binding of ceftibuten was 77% and the primary target site PBP3[4]. Moreover, the synergistic combination of ceftibuten plus amoxicillin-clavulanic acid may be an option for oral treatment of UTIs (urinary tract infection) caused by ESBL (extended-spectrum β-lactamase) producing E. coli or K. pneumoniae[5].
