描述 | Fursultiamine, also known as thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide (TTFD), is a synthetic counterpart of allithiamine, a substance naturally found in garlic. The administration of TTFD (50 mg/kg, i.p.) for 5 days significantly increased the swimming duration of rats in weight-loaded forced swimming test (1.7-fold compared to the controls). TTFD treatment also elevated the levels of thiamine (4.0-fold vs. control), thiamine monophosphate (1.6-fold vs. control) and thiamine pyrophosphate (2.3-fold vs. control) in the skeletal muscle of rats. Forced swimming resulted in a decreased ATP level in the gastrocnemius of vehicle-treated rats (27% reduction compared to non-swimming group), but led to a significantly smaller decrease in those of rats treated with TTFD for 5 days (14% reduction compared to non-swimming group)[3]. | ||
作用机制 | TTFD accelerates the re-synthesis of ATP by accumulating high levels of thiamine pyrophosphate and stimulating glycogenolysis in the skeletal muscle during exercise. |
