描述 Thymopentin is a biologically active peptide secreted mainly by the epithelial cells of thymic cortex and medulla. Thymopentin is an effective immunomodulatory agent with a short plasma half-life of 30 seconds. Thymopentin enhances the generation of T-cell lineage derived from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). Thymopentin enhances T-cell lineage differentiation from hESCs in vitro by mimicking thymus peptide environment in vivo[1]. Thymopentin (TP5), a synthetic immunomodulator pentapeptide (Arg-Lys-Asp-Val-Tyr) with an excellent safety profile in the clinic, protects mice against cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis, as shown by improved survival rate, decreased level of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reduced ratios of macrophages and neutrophils in spleen and peritoneum[2]. TP5 (Thymopentin) exerts a protective effect on DSS(Dextran sulfate sodium)-induced colitis by triggering the production of IL-22 in both innate and adaptive lymphocytes[3].
