生物活性
描述 RPW-24, protects C. elegans from bacterial infection by stimulating the host immune response of the nematode. RPW-24 strongly stimulates the innate immune response of nematodes by giving them a survival advantage in the process of bacterial infection. RPW-24 promotes resistance to Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection by inducing the transcription of a remarkably small number of C. elegans genes (∼1.3% of all genes) in a manner that partially depends on the evolutionarily-conserved p38 MAP kinase pathway and the transcription factor ATF-7[1]. RPW-24 is a xenobiotic toxin to C. elegans. RPW-24 caused a dose dependent reduction of nematode lifespan on nonpathogenic food and delayed development of animals that were exposed starting at the first larval stage[2].
