描述 n-Octyl β-D-glucopyranoside is a non-ionic descaling agent that can be widely used in biotechnology research, biochemical applications, solubilisation and crystallisation of membrane proteins. n-Octyl β-D-glucopyranoside completely inhibits cavitation-induced cell lysis in vitro[1][2][3].HL-60 cell suspensions were exposed to unfocused sonication at 1.057 MHz for 5-15 s with different alkyl glucopyranosides, and the addition of 2 mM n-Octyl β-D-glucopyranoside to the culture medium resulted in 100% cell survival after 5s of exposure, while cell lysis in the control group ranged from 35% to 100% in the control group[3].At 0.5 MPa exposure, n-Octyl β-D-glucopyranoside induced cavitation and lysis at 1 mM, but cavitation was reduced at 5 mM[3].
