描述 | Abnormal neuroinflammation and oxidative stress has been shown to cause neuronal loss in the progressive neurodegenerative Parkinson's disease (PD). Mulberrin is the key component of Ramulus Mori that has various biological activities. In an in vitro PD model using the mouse microglial BV2 cells treated with LPS, mulberrin not only reduced IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-α expression levels, but also suppressed NO contents, iNOS mRNA expression and ROS contents, suggesting that LPS induced inflammatory response and oxidative stress were partially suppressed by mulberrin treatment. Rota-rod test was applied to investigate the roles of mulberrin on MPTP-induced behavioral impairment. Treatment of mulberrin together with MPTP restored rats’ residence duration on the rota-rod in a dose dependent manner. While rats treated with a higher dose of mulberrin (30 mg/kg) remained significantly longer on the rota-rod compared to rats treated with MPTP alone. These results indicate that mulberrin treatment alleviates MPTP mediated disruption in balance and motor coordination. Furthermore, mulberrin suppresses MPTP induced inflammatory response and oxidative stress [3]. |
