描述 Amprolium hydrochloride is a coccidiostat used in poultry, is a thiamine analogue and blocks the thiamine transporter of Eimeria species by blocking thiamine uptake it prevents carbohydrate synthesis. Amprolium hydrochloride was not efficacious against clinical coccidiosis in both the experimental and field trials[3]. Amprolium exposure induced weight loss with hyporexia, reduced the behavioral parameters (locomotion, exploratory activity, and motor coordination), and induced changes in the brain (lower cortical cell viability) and liver (steatosis) [4]. Moreover, both toltrazuril, amprolium and their concurrent use significantly reduced OPG (oocysts per gram) and effectively controlled coccidiosis related mortality, fully abolished the clinical signs, improved feed consumption, BW (body weight), weight gain and feed conversion rate. The oral administration of both drugs and their combined use ameliorated the adverse impacts of intestinal coccidiosis in rabbits as therapeutic, but the concurrent use of both drugs was more superior.
